A “SMART” Way to Make Car Payments

The hallmark of a good product is that it is a win-win for both the buyer and the seller. All

of the products that are sold out of the F&I office fall into that category. The Smart Payment

Plan goes a step further. Not only is it profitable in the F&I office, it is a method of paying for

your customer’s car that matches their payment to their pay days. They can decide if the

payment is debited twice each month, once each week, etc. In addition, they can add other

the opportunity to enroll in a package but keep the payment the same by adding term, again,

provided the lender allows it. It can eliminate the “I can’t afford it” objection.

The customer who doesn’t add term will pay off the vehicle even earlier than the original

term plus have equity earlier than a traditional monthly payment.

The dealership can offer the customer multiple payment possibilities based on different

payment terms, thereby preserving gross profit.
